Book Overview

Read the novel that implied there would be a world so drastically different from the path we were on, and be shocked by the striking similarities to where we are now by television star, LeVar Burton.

What if the United States of America were a very different place in 2019? Back into the 1990's the world diverged from what we know today. First there was economic depression and Americans found themselves struggling in ways unfathomable...

AWESOME READ!

This is an awesome book! Well worth a glance! Grade: A+

Great, moving glimpse into a dark and troubled future

This book was nothing like I had expected. It was truely well thought out. The events, descriptions, and imagery were very realistic. Though this book follows a standard plot about a hero saving people it had such novel ideas about what life would be like in the future that were very believable. Never did I see one Jetson like description in which humans zoomed around in spaceships to and fro. Instead the cold realism that humans have been forced to revert to a early 1900's depression type era. It was defenitly worth the money and time and I would strongly recommend reading it if you love new and different ways to percieve the future and human culture.

Incredible Reading for a First Effort!!!

I have been a fan of Sci-Fi most of my life. When I was scanning the collection of my local library, I ran across this book and was thrilled to see that Mr. Burton had written his first effort!Upon opening the book late that afternoon, I found it hard to put down. It was addictive. I finished it the next day (which is odd - I almost never read a book this size in less than 24 hours). Even though some of the story line had a bit of cheese to it (such as Dr. Reynolds not knowing if 200,000 volts would kill a person and the rather late reception of the phychic voice by little Amy Ladue), the plot was good enough to overlook some of the minor knocks and pings that rattle any first effort.Overall, Mr. Burton's view of the future was insightful and racially fair. Although I feared that it might be a novel only for African Americans, I did not set the book down at the end and walk away feeling as if it was unduly prejudicial toward any race. I do look forward to seeing Mr. Burton's next book.I would definately recommend this book to anyone looking for a science fiction novel without the typical shoot 'em up space battles that plague the genre.Bravo Levar!

This Book was fasinating!!!!!!!

Read This Book

274 pages- minuscule manuscript relevant to humanity today

I picked up "Aftermath" in the morning and could not put it down. I finished feeling that it is Mr. Burton, not the character in the book who is ahead of his time. Anyone wanting the benefits of the "neuro" -enhancer" need only look inside themselves-- after they read "Aftermath."...again
