This book describes the adventures of Spunky, a two-inch tall visitor from the planet Quelle, and Leonard, a young boy living in Fairfax, Virginia. Spunky and Leonard become friends, and Spunky invites Leonard to travel with him to distant planets in outer space. Spunky has an spiffy saucer-shaped spaceship just twelve inches in diameter, which has some amazing technologies like a shrinking ray that can reduce Leonard to Spunky's size, a knowledge transmittal device that can transfer knowledge of new languages directly to the brain, and various weapons that Spunky uses to ward off space pirates. Because Spunky's spaceship can time travel, Spunky can return Leonard back to his home without his parents even knowing he was gone. The boys have some great adventures here on earth as well, once Leonard is right-sized to fit in his torpedo boat and remote-controlled car.
