Certainly, there are editorial missteps that are expected with any story, a missing tooth in a sprocket, but never before have I read a compilation and NOT disliked fewer than two or three contained stories, until now. Toby Litt's stories tickle every facet of the mind, written in a comprehensive yet obviously versed tongue. The one problem I could find, if I must, is that he suffered from a lack of exit on a few of the stories. Having no adequate way to close the story out, he tries to force one and comes across naive. This is easily overlooked as the pages before these trainwrecks are painfully delicious and well worth any torture he unknowingly invokes.
Superb debut

Toby Litt is the Oliver Cromwell of Britain's so-called young puritans. This playful first collection mixes high and low culture into a Wagamama Raw Juice number one. I also like it because it contains a character called Brian who believes all advertising.
