I bought this book in November, 1977. I loved it! It had spa recipes, makeovers, and how-to's that really worked. I like the way the book's laid out (in 3 parts). The first part gives you some of Ms. Arpel's background. It's not boring stuff. It's actually fun and interesting to read. The second section is called "The Comprehensive Mini-Encyclopedia of Beauty" and that's exactly what it is. Each chapter focuses on something different. ie: Chapter 1 - The Truth about skin (and its care) Chapter 2 - The Truth about hair (and its care) Chapter 3 - The Truth about exercise Chapter 4 - The Truth about dieting Chapter 5 - The Truth about sun Chapter 6 - The Truth about hair color (and its care) Chapter 7 - The Truth about hands and nails Chapter 8 - The Truth about feet (and its care) Chapter 9 - The Truth about Intimate Beauty Rituals Chapter 10- The Truth about Plastic SurgeryThe information in these chapters is good and still timely. She knew her stuff then and she knows it now. Finally, the third section is the actual makeover/shapeover plan and it's fun, informative and really DOES make you not only feel good but look good! Day 1 - The primal scream facial Day 2 - Nature and nurture hair treatments Day 3 - Makeover manicure (INCLUDING nail wrap and acrylic application) Day 4 - Climate - control face care Day 5 - The personalized pedicure Day 6 - Super Milk Farm Face Treat Day 7 - The Egg-and-I milk farm hair treatment Day 8 - The skin ironing face treatment Day 9 - Highlight your hair - how to henna Day 10- Removing unwanted hair Day 11- The sensuous, sensational massage Day 12- The revival hour Day 13- The deep-cleansing sea-spa skin treatment Day 14- Sea-spa hair treatment Day 15- Organizing for a perfect makeup Day 16- Contour and face color Day 17- Eye makeovers Day 18- The makeover mouth Day 19- The ten-minute everyday makeup Day 20- The European cellulite treatment wrap Day 21- Total relaxation routineSound yummy? It is! Me? I'm not selling my book. I've had it 25 years and so it's going out in style.....I'm "releasing" it and making a journal entry at www.bookcrossing.com. It deserves at least that much! Thank you Ms. Arpel for your wonderful book!
