Book Overview

In his young adult years Wyatt Earp was many things--farmer, wagon train hunter, freight hauler, stage driver, railroad wrangler, husband, constable, wood splitter, accused horse thief, brothel bouncer, buffalo hunter, gambler, and lawman--most of this in the "new" and raw land of America's untapped West. The possibilities seemed endless for Wyatt, but history remembers him as a peace officer, a role he never wanted but that fate forced upon him...

Getting to know Wyatt Earp, the young man.

Adobe Moon is a biographical novel by Mark Warren. It has a lot of fact, a little fiction mixed in. This book starts off with the Earp family, when Wyatt was a teenager-chomping at the bit, because the Civil War is going on and his three older brothers are off fighting. He desperately wants to quit working the family farm and join up in the fight. The book is enriched with a lot of well known history and other lesser known facts. Mr. Warren blends it into an interesting story. I enjoyed it. This is the first book in this trilogy, on Wyatt Earp.
