Among The Best Of Its Kind

Working within the genre of historical fiction, David Bolt imaginatively retells Genesis 1-3. In Bolt's words, "No material detail of the Bible narrative has been omitted, and it has been my intention throughout to add nothing which is at any point contrary to it."Originally published in 1960, the author relies heavily upon Reinhold Neibuhr's "The Nature & Destiny of Man" and Charles Ellicott's "An Old Testament Commentary for English Readers."The descriptions of God, Adam, Eve, the serpent, and the Garden are clearly rooted in Old and New Testament imagery and conceptualizations. There is very little interaction with the insights of "modern" anthropology, archaeology, biology, psychology, etc.
