Activities for the Spark Curriculum for Early Chil

Teacher directed and prescriptive, the Spark Curriculum is a literacy-based creative arts curriculum in which young children learn developmental and school readiness skills by actively attending to children's stories. Focusing on specific concepts in a variety of children books, teachers and children then participate in activities based on music, art, and drama that reinforce a simple theme or concept for the day -- like loud and soft, or big and small.Armed with the basics for the curriculum, teachers will be able to implement activities from each of the 25 units contained in both activity volumes. Each unit is based on a different children's book and focuses on a key concept related to the healthy development of children. Teachers are then encouraged to adapt activities to meet the needs of the children in their class. Activities also include adaptations for working with children with special needs.
