From the back cover: She needed time-and that was running out. After two years' separation from Gabriel, her husband, Marisa still didn't think she was ready to cope with being his wife. His wealthy life-style had intimidated her. His snobish friends had made her feel like a poor nobody. But some things had changed in two years. Marisa had had to raise Jamie, their baby, by herself, and that had given her new confidence and shown her the meaning of true love. Then Jamie was abducted, and she thought she would die. Especially since it brought Gabriel back into her life. My take: Overall, this book was very good. I was very afraid that it would be to sad for me to finish. The heroine, Marisa was 19 to Gabriel's 34 when they married. She was a very shy young woman and felt bullied by Gabriel in that he demanded that they marry before they really knew one another. She left Gabriel after he SLAPED her one night in the heat of an argument. Now I know this book was written in the early 80's but my God. This book is so not PC. He also calls her the B*tc.h a few times. Even with all of that^^^ I would still argue that this is a good book.
