This was about a young lady who devised a scheme of fake engagement in order to attract the man she had admired since her girlhood. But the plan backfired, she found everything was not what it appeared to be... And her hero was actually someone else. I had a little difficulty at the first half of the story, although I know Ms. Baldwin tried to set up the scene for all the events and happenings, but often it was tedious and boring. But the latter half was very good. Everything started to unravel and it showed a lot of characters development. Ms. Baldwin also did a very good job on describing the background, the characters' clothing, and ball's preparation. There was also some humor in the abduction plot towards end of the book. Over all rating: It was a nice read.
