A Tangled Wed

OK, the problem I had with this book was that Tamar was the survivor of a rape, yet she set herself up to be put in a very bad situation if Jed Cannon had been like Mike Goodfellow. In her mind Tamar was going to pay Jed for what Mike Goodfellow did to her, even though Mr Goodfellow went to prison she still had nightmares and the horror of what had happened to her. In her mind Jed was no different from Mike Goodfellow. Jed had found out his sister's husband Roland Mitchell was having an affair with Tamar's sweet, shy gentle cousin Gaby. Jed confronted them loudly in the hotels restaurant, Roland walked out with Jed, and left Gaby sitting there to have the other customers talking about her. Gaby later tried to kill herself, but she lived, only she lost her baby. Tamar wanted Jed to see how her cousin Gaby felt with he humiliated her in public. Tamar was going to do the same to Jed. So she studied him, found out he was looking for a place to live, being an estate agent she found him the perfect home, and she wanted to attract Jed at the same time, but when Tamar found Jed was in fact interested in her, she found out about his bad childhood, and the horror of his sister being stricken with a muscle disorder. His mother had affairs one after another, and Jed found out he wasn't his father's son, but one of his mother's many lovers offspring. From the back of the book: 'An intimate vendetta! Tamar had made it her business to find out all Jed Cannon's secrets. The notorious playboy had destroyed her cousin's happiness-and her reputation. Now Tamar was determined Jed must be made to pay. It was time to put her plan into action! Tamar intended to play Jed at his own game: seduce him, then publicly jilt him! But the more she flirted with him, the more she realized Jed wasn't the ruthless man he seemed. Maybe it wasn't really revenge she wanted after all...'
