In my library under "Christ like Leadership"

This is a topic dear to my heart. I am convinced that the Achilles-Heel of the covenanted people of God is the same today as it has always been. Looking outside of God for efficacy. Within the O.T. this was symbolized by the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Egypt, Babylon, other gods......,etc. Men whose powerbase is established via systems and organizations argue: Man's intellect, political strategies, organizational prowess etc,... all of these things God's people can fully trust in and still not be considered leaning on the arm of the flesh. But Jeremiah says "Egypt shall be their shame". Can we put our faith in Roberts rules of order, presidents, vice-presidents, secretaries, etc and still say "its not by might nor by power but by my Spirit"? Do we make void by our traditions, Jesus' teaching: "my kingdom is not of this world" and "it shall not be so among you". This book was published in 1980 but it is still pertinent today. It is a close examination of church leadership templates. Are they patterned after the scripture or Egypt? Some of the topics include: - Models of headship - Body leadership vs. institutional leadership - Qualifications for leadership - Task oriented management vs. people oriented management - Organization models ( organic vs. mechanical ) - Matrix-type project structure of organizations The later chapters contain testimonies from large churches who did extensive self examination and the changes they made, which in most cases went against the tide of the main stream powerbase focus. I will keep this book in my library under "leadership".
