Heart of a Hero is an excellent three book series

Shelley Shepard Gray is an excellent author. One almost feels like they are part of the story as she weaves an interesting plot. A reader who likes true romance novels with meaning will enjoy this book. It is very hard to decide after reading 36 of her novels, which is my favorite. I feel confident in recommending this book as well as A Texan's Honor, A Texan's Choice, as well as her Lone Star Hero series, The Loyal Heart, An Uncommon Protector, and Love Held Captive. One cannot go wrong with reading any of her books.
