Amazing!

I was given a free ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review! Wow guys, I have no words for the amazingness of this book! I did not expect all of the feelings it gave me. I cried, I laughed, I cheered, I mourned and everything in between for these characters. Not to mention I was left SHOOK by the ending 😯 wow! SPOILER-FREE SUMMARY In this book, we follow Talyn Dynan, a Callanan warrior, as she is sent on a mission to train a group of ex-criminals to become a protective guard for the winged prince Cuinn, who is arrogant and lazy and does not see why he even needs guards. Also on this mission, she is secretly tasked with finding out more about the infamous vigilante known as The Shadowhawk, with orders not to tell anyone she is doing that. The Shadowhawk is a Robin Hood type character, always working to get supplies and food for his fellow humans living in poverty in Mithranar. I was definitely sucked into the complex and quite magical universe that was wonderfully crafted in this book right away, following along with the well-written descriptions and POVs from Talyn and Shadowhawk. My only complaint is that I wanted more of Shadowhawk’s POV in the beginning, but it also left me wanting to turn the page more, which was a good thing. I just wanted some more of his character, cause it took longer to get to know him! I technically rated this book 4.5 stars on my Instagram account for this reason. But I understand he was supposed to be mysterious and I will not give this amazing book only 4 stars on here! The writing, the plot line, the characters and the story all deserve more than that. The caste system in this novel was well crafted also. With the snide comments made from the winged ones towards humans and the general awful treatment of humans from their winged supposed superiors, it was... infuriating, so it was done really well. I was rooting for the humans and the Shadowhawk, as well as for Talyn and her wing of ex-criminals. I seriously cannot wait to read more of this story in the next book! I haven’t experienced a book with such well-crafted world building in such a long time, and I haven’t been caught off guard by plot twists in so long either. This book was definitely NOT predictable. If you love Fantasy, you need to read this book!
