A Tale I Tell

A bored, gray entity becomes indifferent towards its work of categorizing souls until it comes across a tight-knit community that he finds quite curious. As he shares their story, it refreshes and changes itself -- it whom thought itself unchangeable. The grayness begins this Tale in the mid 1800's, when widower and nobleman, Carl Kapp, and his grown son, Adolph, arrive by ship with other Freethinkers from Germany to settle in the Texas Hill country. Adolph is a free spirit who enjoys working with his hands--much to his father's disgust. Adolph simply desires to live a peaceful life with no interest in politics or religion. Nevertheless, the Civil War is seeping its way into Texas and changes lives forever. It is the nature and character of certain individuals within the town of Comfort, Texas, that the gray entity finds irresistibly interesting and shares with us as they struggle through this horrific time in American history.
