Admittedly this book is out of date. The author writes about his surgical career during the 1960's and early 70's. Moreover, his career would be somewhat unusual today - a surgeon working in a GP group practice in a rural town of 5,000. That said, this is an entertaining read. The author writes with a very personal voice letting you know all about how he got to his position and his views on many topics. But they are stated in an understated way that uses medical examples along the way. I enjoyed his writing style and feel most of the book was full of useful information for a budding MD.
