Introduction to learning and helping

Here is the review I wrote for The Home School Manual =============== A Student's Guide to Volunteering A good book about a terrific way to learn by doing. Beyond developing marketable and useful abilities, volunteers have the opportunity to touch people showing that they care. And caring itself is something to be learned. The first part of the book covers some general principles then discusses opportunities in six major areas open to teens. The second part is a listing of resources in the six areas, then volunteer organizations by state (in the U.S.) The chapters include story examples of what volunteering in various jobs is like. One chapter discusses how to set up a youth volunteer organization.
