A Stranger's Touch by Cait London

A Stranger's Touch, was in my opinion, a very good book. I enjoyed reading about Tempest Storm, the second triplet to have paranormal powers. She was amazing as she helped Marcus with what he needed from her and she was able to come to terms with her past and that she was not at fault for her father's death. I saw nothing wrong with this book. I was able to get into it and read it all the way through. Cait London did an amazing job with this second book in the series.

A Stranger's Touch

Tempest Storm is one of the Aisling triplets who were brought into the light when they were much younger for their gifts. Tempest's gift is that of touch, with one touch she can see everything about the object and even a person. Now it's years later and Tempest has changed her name in an attempt to protect herself and her family. Tempest is on the hunt for a very special brooch that might help tell who is after her family and why. Tempest might have tracked it down but the current owner is not willing to work with her. Marcus Greystone met Tempest a few years ago and they had a wonderful night of sex. The she was gone, but Marcus isn't ready to let Tempest go without a fight. After doing what he is best at, research, Marcus has gotten his hands on the one thing it appears Tempest wants the most. Now lets see if she is willing to help Marcus answer a question that has plagued him since he was a young child. Tempest is surprised at the lengths that Marcus has gone to not only get her back but she wants that brooch and she also really does seem to want to be with Marcus some more. When Tempest and Marcus begin asking questions, they stir up old hates and misgivings. Attempts on Tempest's life seem to be coming from two fronts - the question is are they both involved with the situation Marcus has her looking into or has someone finally tracked her down and knows exactly who and what she is. Take one headstrong and impulsive woman with a special gift and one determined and powerful man who embodies the term protector and you have the main characters in A Stranger's Touch. Tempest has suffered for her gifts and the misplaced guilt over things in her past. Marcus has had to work hard to put the family business back together once he became of age. Marcus and Tempest do not have an easy time finding their place together, but I thought that all the struggles they faced just made their relationship that much richer. Now while searching for answers from the past, both Marcus and Tempest have to figure out exactly whom they can trust and with what. There were several times I thought that neither Marcus nor Tempest would end up together - that there was just too many secrets between them. However Ms. London circled her suspense, cliffhangers and most importantly, the finding of the love between Marcus and Tempest in such a way that I never would have guessed the true ending. A Stranger's Touch has a wonderful combination of characters, plot and grabs you pretty fast to make a great book. I am going to go searching for the third sister's book now so I can see the true ending. Jo Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

The story kept me riveted-and turning the pages

After meeting Tempest in the first book, At The Edge, we've come to expect what she is like. Honestly, we get a whole different view of her in this book. It all begins with her playing a cat burglar-and gets more and more intense. Marcus, a one night stand, has set up an intricate plot to get Tempest to help him figure out who killed his parents years ago. Once Tempest begins delving into everyone's background and asking questions, strange accidents start happening. A past that everyone would like left behind, except for Marcus, begins to surface and no one is happy about it. In the meantime Tempest has to come to terms with her own past and what it may mean for her future. In the background we have the mystery still running of who's trying to harm the Aisling triplets. In the first book, someone attacks Claire. In this book, Tempest is the one on the receiving end of the attacks. All three of them, along with their mother, Greer, are trying their best to figure out who or what is after them. We also get to learn more history of the Aisling ancestors and exactly what the wolf's head brooch means. This is the second book in the Aisling triplets series, and I was as riveted as I was with the first. At first I was a tad disappointed because I was looking for the Tempest I fell in love with in the first book, but she soon resurfaced and her fiery spirit had me shooting through pages. The best part of this book for me was that I could not figure out who was responsible for the murders! There are so many plausible parties responsible, that it's really tough to determine ahead of time what the ending will be. Thankfully the third book will be coming out in October 2008, because I have to know what happens next! The third book will be featuring Leona, the eldest. Armchair Interviews agrees.

Strong mystery with passion.

My rating is more like a 3.5 or 3.75. I enjoyed the story line which is the second book of a continuing puzzle begun in the book "At The Edge" (May07). The series will complete in Sep 08 with the release of "For Her Eyes Only". Claire, Tempest, and Leona are triplets, their mother a famous psychic...and they have each inherited a part of her powers and an unbreakable connection to each other. Claire's story was the first, but this book was Tempest's story. Tempest is a touch-psychic, she can pick up information from people and objects by touch. She's spent most of her life shielding herself with gloves and trying to keep a lid on her power. She's also a sculptor and she met and 'conquered' Marcus at one of her successful showings. Unfortuantely for her, Marcus isn't quite willing to leave it at that, so he sets a trap for her. He will be the one to walk away, not her. As I mentioned, I really enjoyed the overall story. The triplets are being pursued by an evil, an ancient curse, and each book reveals a little more about who/what is after them and what it wants. What didn't click with me was the relationship between the heroine and hero. They seemed to spend their time turning away from each other immediately after having some fairly passionate sex! By 3/4 into the book, I could script their actions pretty well. The book also had a mystery involving Marcus and the author did a great job of keeping my guessing til the end. Will I pick up the 3rd book? You bet. I just hope the hero and heroine have some more pleasing feelings for each other rather than almost constant strife. I would categorize these books as stories that contain elements of passion rather than love stories.

The next triplet's story.

At the tender age of ten, the Bartel triplets were taken from their home (without the mother's knowledge or consent) for testing at the Blair Institute for Parapsychology. What followed was three days of horrible experiments and testing before their mother, Greer, could swoop down and rescue them. Greer had been away, helping the police with a case at the time her three daughters had been taken. Those three days were so traumatic to the little girls that they would never be able to forget a moment of their time within the institute. Tempest is the middle girl. Greer believes that Tempest holds more of their ancestors' Viking blood than the others. She is a fighter. With a light touch, Tempest simply KNOWS about the object's owner. At all times, Tempest wears gloves. In fact, she is well known for the hot pink elbow-length gloves she often wears. For so long she has been hunting a certain old brooch. This brooch has a sort of curse on or against her family. Finally, Tempest has the brooch almost within her grasp. Problem is the current owner, Marcus. Marcus Greystone is used to women throwing themselves at him. He is handsome, rich, and goes through women like tissue. Tempest is the only one who had ever spent the night with him and left before he even woke up the next day. Marcus has a meticulously structured life now, the aftereffect of a chaotic childhood. He uses the brooch as bait, to lure Tempest back to him, and offers her a bargain: Tempest uses her abilities to help solve the twenty-one-year old cold-case murder of his parents near Lake Michigan and she may have the brooch. Tempest, like her sisters, could be very vulnerable near water. Water could act like some sort of portal for danger. To help Marcus, Tempest must constantly be near Lake Michigan. Tempest is in danger from whatever evil entity is connected to the brooch. There is also danger from the mortal world. As Tempest digs into Greystone's past, someone begins getting nervous. ***** I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about this story. It grabbed me within the very first paragraph and never let me go. I repeat, it NEVER let me go. The characters are realistic. It is so well written that I could easily see and understand everything Marcus, Tempest, and the other Bartels felt. Make sure you have a quiet day ahead, order pizza, and turn off all connections to the outside world before you even open the cover of this gem. Absolutely fantastic! ***** Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.
