"Slice..." is a snapshot of the range and intetensity of human emotion!

I highly recommend this collection of short stories, which has appeal to both avid readers and occasioanl readers. Rarely are short stories so satisfying, so manageable, that each leaves the reader with the sense they have taken a complete journey. I am impressed that Mr. Mehta provides not only a unique setting (temporal and geographic)for each story, but a unique narrative voice for each as well. It is his portrayal of those emotions that make us at once human and vulnerable, that pull this collection together. This is a collection you could voraciously read in one sitting, or you could choose to read one story per evening, savoring each for its irony, truth and heart.

THE BEST SHORT STORY COLLECTION I'VE EVER READ!

Wow, what a collection! Each story sent me on an emotional ride! Whether it was learning about the power of ignorance, the tragedy of cowardness, the ugliness of apathy, or the meaning of life, this amusing, heart-wrenching and intelligent collection has something for everyone. Also, each story is about 10 to 15 pages long, which was perfect way to end my day before I went to bed. Now that 'A Slice of Life' is over, I am anxious to read Mr. Mehta's other book, 'Divya's Dharma'.

A shock to human emotion

This is a fantastic collection! Despite being short in length, each story takes you on an emotional rollercoaster - the endings are all completely surprising! I am a secondary teacher, and I read the first story, Amal, to my class who sat in shock while hearing the ending. I encourage everyone to read this book.
