A Rescued Heart ... Blast From The Past

Title: A Rescued Heart Pages: 188 Author:Alene Roberts Alene is a Christian author that has had 8 romance novels published. She is currently married with kids who now have kids of their own. Agent: I believe that A. Roberts went straight to the publishing house with her submissions, which is hard to do with most companies, but Granite Publishing and Distribution is an exception. They are currently accepting manuscripts that are uplifting and contain the morals they are looking for. Orem, UT 84057 A Rescued Heart was a hard book for me to get into at first. I find that sometimes when I read a book I have to change things mentally to enjoy the book to the fullest (i.e. Instead of a tall skinny blond hero, I instantly bulk him up a bit and dye his hair dark brown). This book had a couple of things that I had to do that with. First of all... he was blond (I know this is strictly a preference thing, but blond... really?). Secondly Mrs. Roberts insisted on finding the really dorky names of both of the main characters extra funny and trying to force the humor on her readers (I mentally skimmed over both of their names for the whole of the book). Lastly, I love to be carried away in a book and feel part of the plot, but for the first 50 pages I felt like I was transported to Sunday school. She really drove home her opinion on modesty, working Moms, swearing, drinking, and questionable movies. I respect her for it, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. Now for the likes, and there are quite a few. This book reminded me of Blast From The Past, one of my favorite movies of all times. It has a type of nostalgic love story. Dilladora Dobson is the favored niece of a very rich aunt. The aunt is concerned about her safety and insists that she have a bodyguard even at the ripe old age of 27. Dilly usually puts up with them for a while before getting them fired, but her newest bodyguard is not your typical bodyguard. Dunley Fennimore Dinkle (Yep!) can't turn down this job. If he can hold out for a couple of months he can start the publishing company he has been saving for since selling his software company. He is an old-fashioned sort of guy who holds doors for women, shows respect for his elders, and always has a freshly pressed handkerchief handy. Romance! Sparks fly right from their first site of each other and the competition is on. She wants to get him fired fast and he foils her attempts time and again. The question is who will wave the white flag first? They fall for each, but don't know it, on day three while dancing, wait for it... cheek to cheek. There are plenty of little jealousies, long looks and comedy to satisfy even the most needy romance fan. My favorite line was: "That's the sixty-four dollar question, isn't it. She is the most stubborn, contrary girl I have ever known! Believe me, I did not want
