I had to read this book for a history class on the Cuban Revolution. I was delighted to find out that this was no ordinary history memoir--it was captivating and exciting. Macaulay presents his memoirs of his time as an American soldier in revolutionary Cuba--a shocking sentence for many to read. Yet, his detailing of the adventures he took surviving in the forests of Cuba with fellow Americans and Cubans, fighting the Batista loyalists, meeting Fidel Castro, participating in death squads, and years after the revolution make you feel as if you are participating yourself. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the time period of the Cuban Revolution.
