Great for beginners medical classes

I puchased for my niece while she was taking medical classes. She seemed to like it and I am sure it helped her in in her studies.

It's the Format of the Book

Ms Davies writes in her preface that this book is for students, teachers, and allied health professionals who want an inexpensive and succinct reference text. The first part of the book contains the most common medical terms listed according to relevant prefix, root, or suffix whenever practical followed by a simple and easy to understand definition. What makes this medical terminology book outstanding is the format of this section. The major terms (and their definitions) are written in bolder red color followed by terms (and their definitions) written in slightly smaller blue color. It's easy to find a root term and then other medical terms derived from it. One may need to look up chondro in order to find chondroma (a benign tumor of cartilage) and then read a little more to find chondrosarcoma (a malignant tumor). Following this section on terms are half a dozen helpful appendices including aids to pronunciation and illustrations of the major systems of the body.

Great book.....I have been looking around for a good Medical Terminology book that was suitable for EMS...Well when i saw this book i knew i found the perfect book...If your looking for a good Medical Terminology book you just found it..If i had my choice i would rate this book a 10...

Excellent book!

The best thing about this book is that the entries are in alphabetical order instead of arranged by body system, so if I want to find 'oophectomy',(surgical removal of an ovary) I just go to the 'o'section, under oophor/o (ovary) instead of having to flip thru a book to the reproductive system and then find the prefix I need. This book gives you the meaning of the root word and also has Memory Keys that help the student by providing interesting facts about where the word came from, how, why and when different combining vowels are used or tips on how to remember it. There are also small but clear illustrations in the back for all the body systems. I wish I had found this book years ago when I started in the Medical field! Dianne CMA, CNA
