The true adventures of a forbidden love affair in Zihuatanejo, Mexico! In 1968, Owen Lee retired from the team of Captain Jacques Yves Cosuteau to create a Nature Study Center in Zihuatanejo, Mexico and promote Captain Cousteau's ideas about living in harmony with Nature. After being picketed, jailed, shot at three times and 'taken for a ride' and deported, he ultimately prevailed. This is his true story!
I really enjoyed Owen Lee's book with its insights regarding the sustainable philosophies of Cousteau, his travails in starting the Nature Study Center at Las Gatas, living in Mexico for 40 plus years and this juxta-posed with being part of the beat scene in the village, hangin out with the greats (Stan Getz, Paul Desmond). Mr. Lee lives large and we are fortunate he shares his story with us. His new book Mother Nature, My Nature is tremendous read for those concerned with sustainability and the human prospect. Thanks Owen!
