Too often, I find children's books talking down to children. Judy Delton doesn't in this Pee Wee Scouts book. It is funny, well-written, and speaks the truth. When I live in a society where it is seemingly acceptable to lie to children by pureeing spinach in brownies and cauliflower in their mac n cheese to get them to eat vegetables, I question what we are trying to say to them. I believe the idea of Santa Claus is all in good fun, but I would never lie to my children that he exists! We can all dress up as Santa, but my children will know there is no such thing and it is all good natured Christmas spirit fun. Bravo to Judy Delton! This is a light-hearted book that deserves to be in every library. She teaches the most important lesson: honesty is always the best policy. Recommended for readers of all ages
