On this book's front cover is an excellent photograph of an Owl in flight. Similar photographs are also found inside. In between these, however, are photographs - including more of birds in flight as well as others of captive birds sitting on perches, which are of such poor quality it is hard to understand why they were selected. Nevertheless, this is an otherwise excellent understanding and appraisal of the Owl. With chapters covering such topics as; Origins & evolution, Owls great & small, Anatomy, Prey, Home life, Owls & man and Owls of the world, we have almost every aspect of these endearing birds covered in this book. Like so many people, I have personally had a passion for owls since I was a boy. Today, I keep and breed Owls so that certain species may be returned to the wild. Even though this book was first published many years ago, now that I have found it and read it, I found myself learning much that I did not previously know. Pity about some of the photographs though.
