A poor church mouse is sent on a dangerous difficult quest in order to win the hand of his sweetheart, Princess Barley Mow. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book was a favorite of mine when I was young... and I'm ecstatic to have been able to find it again! The story is that of a mouse who, in order to marry the female mouse of his dreams, has to perform three tasks: get the ring of the Seawitch, get the jewel off the head of a three-headed serpent, and go up to meet the man in the moon. If you've ever seen Wayne Anderson's illustration, you know you're in for a delight when you see it. I haven't read it for at least ten years (having just ordered it), but the beautiful images have stayed with me even though the title did not. The pictures are intricately detailed and eerie - you'll be proud to own this if only for the art. Not really recommended for LITTLE children as the pictures are a little creepy (they all - even the [huge] mice - have large unsettling eyes), but any child over 5 (or adult) would be lucky to own this book and will remember it for years to come.
