Book Overview

A new non-illustrated edition of Patrick Ness's Carnegie Medal winner--featuring an atmospheric cover by Jim Kay with an announcement of the upcoming film adaptation. The monster in Conor's backyard is not the one he's been expecting -- the one from the nightmare he's had every night since his mother started her treatments. This monster is ancient. And wild. a book I wished I had as a child

This young adult book is a fairy tale of grief and rage, beautiful in its simple tale of Conor and his monster.

An incredible read

Gives the reader a glimpse into the complex emotions of a child that he himself doesn't understand. It's a beautiful story of love, loss, and healing. Grab a tissue box and cue the waterworks! I couldn't put it down.

So beautiful

This book really hit me in the feels. So very tragically beautiful

A book that resonates

First book I read that resonated with me. Beautiful illustrations and message and symbols.

A monster calls. Not what I expected.

I loved how there was such a connection between the leading characters. It was just a bit to slow for my taste.

7/10 would probably recommend to a friend

I was really excited to read this and was not completely let down. While I thought the idea was good, I was never able to connect with Connor until almost the very end. Despite that, I was able to enjoy the book, even if at a distance, and would probably recommend it to someone that needed a quick read. Also FYI, there are some crude pictures and there are few times the text takes up the whole page. Definitely something that can be devoured within a few hours.

Read it.

And keep a box of tissues with you at all times. That aside its a really good book.

Sometimes called continuation books or series, these twelve tag-teamed projects were all started by one author and finished by another.
