This is a book, once read, that will turn into surefire bragging material! Hey, you want to know h

Probably many of you interested in science or how things work have probably seen the series on television that shows you how things are made. If you are riveted to the set when that comes on, you just might have your nose in this book from start to finish. Just take a look at an metal can, specifically one your soda comes in. If you look closely and think about it, you can only imagine how it is made. After you read this book, you can amaze your pals when you tell them how it's created from start to finish! Bauxite, a "reddish rock that comes from mines in the Caribbean, West Africa, and Australia" is mined for its aluminum content. After they extract a powdery substance called "alumina," cryolite is added to it. After that electrical currents are passed through the mixture and it changed into "molten aluminum." Ingots are then made and off to the factory to make a can. In this book you'll learn how the ingots are made into sheets of aluminum, you can see how "aluminum cups" are made, you'll see the cups formed into "a can shape," how a design is printed on them, how can ends are made, how the can is shaped and you'll see the final processing and then ... imagine your favorite brand of soda in it! This is a well, written and very fascinating book in the series, "How It's Made." The text is easy to understand and photographs lead the reader every step of the manufacturing process. There are many informative sidebars scattered throughout the book, most dealing with historical issues. In the back of the book is a glossary, an index and additional information of recycling and other uses for aluminum. This is a book, once read, that will turn into surefire bragging material!
