I have to echo those who said this was a great read. This book is about an issue that is not often talked about or maybe even unheard of in the african american community:infertility. Ava's struggles touched me deeply and were dear to my heart. The way marcus showed her love despite what many view as a handicap and how she managed to still get a family was captivating.

This book captured it all. A means for all people to relate. Ava's character was that of a any caring human being. She was able to love without being bitter over her own circumstances. A true romance teaches and Ms. Griffin's book does that. I have always stated that I only liked reading historicals. Contemporary books usually sit on my shelf waiting to be read. What a treat to pick up this book and not be able to put it down. Ms. Griffin your book should be marketed as a pick me up for when you're feeling down. If you want humor its got it, if you want facts. its got it and if you want love, BOY does it have. If you like to read your romance with realistic pictures of love. This book is for you.

This book touched me in a very personal way. I can releate to the storyline regarding not being able to have children. I felt Ava's pain and her warm love she had for children. I feel "God" has a plan for everyone and not everyone is inteneded to have children. I loved the way Hilton responded to the situation. It takes a very special man to love a women regardless if she can't bear children. I could hardly put the book down. I truely enjoyed every page. This is a must read.
A compelling and thoughtful treatment.

A Love Of Her Own is a refreshing entry to the Arabesque line from relative newcomer Bettye Griffin. Avid fans of the multicultural will remember Ms. Griffin's first book, At Long Last Love which was her wonderful debut novel. This one is also set in Florida, but it shows another side of Ms Griffin altogether. She shows real versatility as an author and has created a story that is timely, thought provoking and realistic without losing any of the tender romance that is a hallmark of the Arabesque line. This is a book that you will not want to miss! I recommend it very highly as well as its predecessor, At Long Last Love. You will be very glad you have made the acquaintance of Ms Griffin

This is a pure illustration for all the women in the world who are facing infertility, a must read story by Ms Griffin. Ava is faced to come to terms with this major issue when the man of her future, Hilton White, comes into her life. As this relationship develops, she is forced to come to grips with dealing with her problem. The supporting characters of this story helps tremendously, finally allowing Ava to not only gain the courage to accept her infertility but finds the blessing of love brings her alot more than she even imagined. We had not heard from Bettye Griffin since "At Long Last Love", and the wait was well worth it as she puts her heart into this special story. Thanks for showing us the courage this woman endures by fighting the issues of infertility.
