Life often fills itself with irony. None could have guessed that a Sumerian god of darkness could be so afraid of fading into it.

A god's power is based in belief and as the world changes and grows, his place in it becomes that much more uncertain. Having only ever known the glory of immortality, the idea of an ignominious death scared him more than anything in creation. Maybe that was why a god would look to a demon for a deal, an accord that one day would come due.

Blessed with a continued life he walks the world. Along the way he learns the secrets of being human, an ideal that he had once looked down on as a being incapable of dying.

He learns and grows, becoming more sympathetic to the human condition. The lessons stick with him.
