A Legacy of Thoughts is a free-flowing collection of the author's musings on life, friends, family, diet and exercise, marriage, suicide, and numerous other topics. Each topic is designed to promote self-reflection and, ideally, encourage the reader to take any necessary actions to address any issues such reflection uncovers. The book follows a pattern, with each section of each chapter asking the following questions as subheadings: How do I stay true to myself? What if?Guess what? The subheadings, while constant throughout the book, are followed by in-depth answers addressing the wide variety of topics mentioned earlier. Capping off each section is a subheading called "Mama's tips" in which the author distills all her previous advice and musings in that section into a shorter, pithier "takeaway" for the reader. It is not a book meant to be read in one sitting but rather pored over and given deep consideration, section by section-perhaps during morning or evening quiet time. Moving through it too rapidly would not benefit the reader as much as breaking it into such discrete segments for thought. A Legacy of Thoughts would be a valuable source of reflection for an individual but would work equally well to encourage conversation, sharing and debate in a group setting. Its musings and advice are gentle and never preachy or judgmental.
