Wonderful book!

I absolutely LOVED this book! I am a sucker for a great Christian fiction novel, as well as, a great historical novel...this book has both and more!! Margaret Brownley was able to capture me from the beginning, and held me til the end. I truly did not want this book to end or to have to say good bye to amazingly thought out characters who became my dear friends. But, alas, I did and I am anxiously awaiting book 2 in this series! I found myself laughing through out this whole book. Maragaret Brownley does an outstanding job of adding humor to Sarah's story. It was a book that I have added to my favorites list and I will go back time and again to say hello to my new friends. If you love history, and you love God-filled stories, then I think you should grab a copy of Sarah and Justin's story, A Lady Like Sarah, sit back and relax while you become friends with these wonderful people. I give this book an over all 5 star rating for a wonderful job!!

Larger Than Life Characters Will Leave You With a Smile

What first attracted me to this book was the cover and tag line. A lady outlaw and a preacher would definitely make for great conflict. And, I wasn't disappointed! Ms. Brownley painted a picture for me on each and every page. I read the book while visualizing every scene as if watching a Hallmark movie--the kind you snuggle up with on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The characters came to life for me. I fell in love with Sarah Prescott, the feisty heroine. She had to save her own hide from a noose waiting for her in Rocky Creek. But, she couldn't abandon Justin Wells, the reverend on his way to a new position as preacher for the very town she needed to avoid. The poor man had no clue how to keep his hide intact. I laughed, cried, cheered, and worried for the fate of Sarah and Justin through the very last word of this heartwarming novel. Ms. Brownley has written a wonderful story full of hope, compassion, and yet with so much conflict that you'll have to keep turning the pages, until you close the book with a sigh. I hope Ms. Brownley has a sequel in mind!

A Lady Like Sarah

I loved this book! For me, the characters made it shine. I found myself thinking about "Sarah's" speech pattern even when I wasn't reading the story. And note to author Margaret Brownley: Don't you dare make her "sound like a lady" if Sarah shows up in another book! I love her accent and her ain'ts. Can't wait for the next Rocky Creek Romance! Plan to laugh or cry with every turn of the page

In a`A lady Like Sarah' Margaret Brownley captures the west with such grace, enthusiasm and passion, I felt like I wanted to jump into one of her pages and take part of the story. The hours of research and interesting historical tidbits gave this novel an uniqueness all its own. I came away knowing far more about the west then I ever imagined. Justin Wells is a preacher with the patience of a saint. Sarah is an outlaw who is struggling to do right. I cheered for her the whole way through, not knowing how or even if things would work out between them. I recommend this book for all book lovers. Plan to laugh or cry with every turn of the page.

amusing western romance

In 1879 on his way to Texas, Reverend Justin Wells is five days beyond St. Louis when he sees the vultures flying, which means someone or an animal is dying. Having left Boston and his flock in disgrace, Justin knows he must see if he can help.. He finds a severely wounded U.S. Marshal who makes him vow to take his prisoner to Texas. However, he is stunned as the prisoner is not a lad in red boots, but a woman whose hair matches her footwear. Sarah Prescott is an outlaw from a family of lawbreakers. She removes the bullet from Marshal Owen before they begin the trek to Rocky Creek. On the road, the two seemingly opposites find common ground as they fall in love. However, when Owen dies, the law assumes she killed him because she is a Prescott although she insists she is a lady; only the preacher and his sidekick Timber Joe might save her life as she has saved the soul of the former. This is a wonderful at times amusing western romance starring two people who on the surface seem totally inappropriate for one another yet God works in mysterious ways. Fans will enjoy the Americana romance between the exiled Boston preacher and the exiled Prescott outlaw as Justin and Sarah fall in love. Harriet Klausner
