Helpful- Wonderful book.

Although my children are in different stages than the author's children, I found something useful in each chapter and couldn't wait to finish. I subsequently purchased 3 more for my sisters for Mothers Day.

Very Inspiring

I just finished reading this book and am ready to read it again. I thought it was wonderful. Yes, she talks about the trips her family took all over the world, but she also mentions how to make that possible. It wasn't because they were rich or extravagant. It was because they were compassionate and selfless and gave of their time to serve others. If you really *read* the book you will see that you do not have to take trips around the world to be able to be a joyful mother. The best part of the book, in my opinion, is the very last section where she talks about 12 ways to reduce stress and actually *be* a joyful mother. She gives challenges to help you along the way. If you stop reading in the beginning of the book, you would miss the truly helpful part. I loved the entire book. I kept reading parts aloud to my husband and he enjoyed it as well. I have already suggested this book to friends who have also enjoyed it and I will continue to suggest it. I found it very uplifting and motivational.

One of my all time favorite books

This is a book I go back to again and again. It always touches me. Have you ever read something and thought to yourself, "Yes, I can be a joyful mother. I can do this. And I can do it really well." That's how I feel when I read this book. Reading this book also reminds me how grateful I am to be a mother. I don't think it's true this book is unrealistic at all. Linda writes about trips to foreign countries where her family helped the people there. They also gave up their Christmas to be able to afford it one year. Her stories about the trips aren't to say that's what everyone needs to do. They are there to illustrate certain points. They are very inspiring. I think it all comes down to what your perspective is. Those who read the book looking to be inspired and have a postive outlook, these moms will benefit. If you are looking for reasons to complain you will find fault in the book and look for ways to say why the information can't help you. It's a wonderful book and I HIGHLY recommend it.

BEST "MOM" BOOK

I received this book last year for Christmas and read it immediately and loved it! It has now been passed around and is on my fourth friend. The other three friends who borrowed my copy went out and bought their own so they could re-read it and mark it up with their favorite ideas and thoughts. This is my number one baby shower gift now and everyone loves it. You can always give an outfit or toy that the baby will outgrow, but a gift to show mom how "sane" and "normal" she really is with great ideas to be a better mom is priceless!

Excellent Uplifting Book for Mothers

I loved this book. It made me laugh and made me feel like I was a little less alone in the crazy world of motherhood! The book is full of stories, making it a fun and quick read. But it's also full of real wisdom and wonderful ideas that have made a real difference in my family. I've given it to several friends and they've LOVED it and given it to their friends to read. I highly recommend this book to any mother. I think that the other review on this site must refer to a different edition of this book. The current edition (the one pictured here) has no specific religious references that I noticed. Get this book!
