A Must Read

I don't remember laughing so hard while reading a book. And then laughter turned to tears. It fealt like I was reading the story of my own life. Whether or not you have seen the play "A Jew Grows in Brooklyn" (which you should do if you can!), the book is a must read. Jake Ehrenreich is a gifted storyteller, comedian and entertainer. There is a chapter when Jake, as a youngster, is in synagogue with his family -- something happens and he has to try and keep himself from laughing. Whether you are Jewish or not, this scene will make you laugh. The book is touching too -- a lesson on how to develop a great relationship with your parents!

Brilliant

I just love it and like many others it stirs such emotions and memories. It is brilliantly written and very difficult to put down. It hits home on so many levels and I am sure no matter who your are, there are passages that you can relate to, plus it helps you to see life through it's gifts.

A Story for Everybody

Jake Ehrenreich's story is particular to him, but it applies to us all. His is a story of growing up the son of Holocaust survivors, his quest to become that "All-American" boy, and his full-circle return to embrace the essence of his heritage. It is funny; it is poignant; it is enlightening. We all come from immigrant families at one point in our past; we all want to fit in; we all want to discover something about ourselves. And so this unique story of Jake Ehrenreich in the end is a story about each of us. But more than that - more than enlightening and instructive - the book is also a heck of a fun read!
