Still one of my favorite children's books!!

I remember when I first heard of this book. It was read on the show Reading Rainbow. I can't remember if it was when I was a child or when my oldest was little but I do remember how much I loved the rhythm and rhyme of the words as I listened to it being read. When my son graduated kindergarten, his teacher presented him with this book. When I saw it, I could not wait to read it to him!! Through the years I have purchased this book for numerous friends for baby showers, etc. and I just purchased a hardcopy for our home. I have the paperback which I have started reading to my grandbabies who are 3 years and 18 months, and my 18 month old granddaughter absolutely loves this book (she loves being read to all the time anyway). She will bring it to me to read to her. Books like this one create lifelong readers!

Fun and Engaging

I have loved every single book by Mary Ann Hoberman that I have ever read, and this is no exception. The book is great for reading aloud... the words flow very nicely. Betty Fraser's illustration are, also as usual, wonderfully whimsical and beautifully detailed.

House is a House for Me

I have only been a first grade teacher for two years now, and am just starting to build up my own children's literature collection. House is a House for Me is without a question one of my favorites. The children loved it so much when I read this book of rhyme, not a peep was made on the rug. When I was finished reading the book, the children wanted to create their own class version entitled House is a House for Me 2! If you are a teacher or a parent, this is a small investment, but one that you and your children will treasure for years to come.

Wonderful out loud reading, great drawings

I read this book to my daughter fifty times or more. It is a wonderful piece of poetry to recite; rhythmic and fun. The pictures are very detailed, with lots for a child to discover and ask questions about. Every page has an intricate drawing with many different recognizable details. I found it to be a good jumping off point for many varied discussions when my daughter was a tot. I send it to my friends who are having their first baby....

This is one of the best children's books my kids have had

My oldest child is now almost 15 and I have had this book on hand for the last 12 years. I also have 2 other children. All 3 of my children have loved this book. I have read it over and over and over again over the last 12 years. The children especially liked creating their own house is a house situations. The kids would go on and on and on for ages. I have held onto this book and read to my nieces and nephew over the years. Hopefully the book will last until I have grandchildren to read it to. I myself have thoroughly enjoyed the book time and time again.
