Book Overview

For as long as she could remember, Emma had wanted a dog. Instead, she got a fish, a hamster, and even a guinea pig. And although Emma loved all these pets, it was not the same as having a dog.

Meanwhile, an abandoned puppy was brought to an animal rescue. And although this little puppy had a warm place to sleep and food to eat, she dreamed of having her very own family to love.

Happily for both, Emma adopts this puppy and names her Dixie, and in each other they find the companionship they've been looking for. A Home for Dixie is their uplifting story, enhanced by adorable photography and bonus information on how to support your local animal shelter--and even adopt a rescued dog of your own.

Cute Book

This is a cute book and a portion of the proceeds goes towards dog shelters, which in this tough economic climate are feeling the pinch. I also recomend "Hobo Finds A Home" which is another very cute children's book, but it's about a cat. A portion of the royalties goes to Second Chance Animal Sanctuary based in Tioga Pennsylvania.

Love This Book!

What a wonderful story to share with your family and other children. I bought an extra copy and donated it to my son's pre-school. The children loved it and it sends a great message.

A Sweet Book!

This book is a nice, simple story with a great message: when you want to get a pet, adopt! The pictures are lovely and the book was written by a teenager, which makes it appealing and lively for young children. I highly recommend it.

Cute Book

This is a cute book for the child that is an animal lover. A donation was made to petfinder.com and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Aunt Mary's Doghouse, that's great. The book isn't illustrated, but done with photographs. It's about a girl finding the right pet for her, and it's a pet from a shelter. If you love this book and love cats, check out "Hobo Finds A Home" which is about a stray cat who found a home.
