Heartrending And heartwarming

This story follows young Suzanna Redekopp and her brother Menno, who must be called Paul, because children at the Communist operated orphanage in Russia are supposed to forget everything related to their past and their Mennonite heritage. But they don’t want to forget. Mamma, before she died, begged Paul to take care of Suzanna, which he tries his utmost to do. Memories haunt young Paul. He remembers Mamma’s death and unceremonious burial in a mass human grave. The two children are orphans: at least they think they are! Father disappeared before Menno Paul could scarcely remember. One of the most beautiful parts of the story comes right after one of the saddest memories. Paul dreams of Jesus gathering a wounded lamb in His arms, and Paul sees himself as that lamb, realizing that the LORD does really care about him. Truly God is a Father to the “fatherless”! You will be in for a touching surprise at the close of the story! It leaves you wishing the book would go on to include the next chapter of their lives!
