A Highlander's Destiny Daughters of the Glen, Book 5

The Nuadian Fae have discovered a long-forgotten path to dark powers and all that stands between them and the helpless Mortal world is Jesse Coryell. Another failed romance and Jesse's disillusioned. Even spending time in the Realm of Faerie and training as a member of the Elite Guard hasn't made him happy. Something he can't identify is missing in his life and according to his magically gifted niece, Rosie MacKiernan, that something is his destiny. When Jesse intercepts a letter from Destiny Noble, a young woman desperately searching for her missing younger sister, life and destiny collide. Not even Destiny's Faerie heritage and her ability to see glimpses of the future can protect the pair from the unknown evils they'll face. But, if they're lucky, the magic of True Love just might save them both before it's too late... I enjoyed this book, just as I enjoyed each and every prior book in this series. So worth reading .

Mayhue does it again

I wish all authors had the talent and used the care Melissa Mayhue does. I'm reading her newest, A Highlander's Destiny, now, and her characters never "forget" who they are. The reader never gets confused or thrown out of a scene with trite phrases or yuck. Her research is amazing; plots are cohesive and riveting; and someone with a Scottish accent doesn't suddenly use inappropriate slang. I don't need to read the back flap to know if I'll buy one of her books. Every one has been a gem, and she's got another coming out next month (February 2010). I don't have to wade through gratuitous sex scenes that don't fit the story line--what's there fits the plot line. She doesn't fall back on my dreaded "oh no" phrases: a dollop of anything; not knowing where he leaves off and she begins; or a feeling 'older than time,' to name a few. I sometimes wonder if even the best authors have these words and phrases on a little flash card taped to their writing desks to throw in when they run out of fresh words. Mayhue hasn't disappointed me in five books. I only wish she'd republish in audio format as well. I'd buy them all again.

A Highlander's Destiny

I couldn't wait for the next installment in the Daughters of the Glen books and I was NOT disappointed! I pre-ordered it to arrive on my Kindle as soon as it came out. Couldn't put it down and I can't wait until the next book with Robert.

excellent romantic fantasy

As she tells fortunes at a Renaissance Faire to the scorners and skeptics, Destiny Noble is worried about her missing teenage sister Leah; who the cops label another runaway. Her visions she inherited from the father who abandoned her, Leah and their late mom lead to Jesse Coryell of Coryell Enterprises though she has little hope that this wealthy person, who she knows is her destiny, will assist the likes of her based on her paranormal "whims". Jesse has Fae blood flow inside him and has just come back from four months of training the Realm of the Faerie. He knows he is a protector of the mortal realm from rogue faeries. When he meets Destiny, Jesse believes she is concealing something from him, but first must kill faeries who attack them. Still he agrees to help her on her quest as she struggles with the visions that Leah was kidnapped by blonde killers who apparently want their blood. The latest Daughters of the Glen Highlander romantic fantasy (see A Highlander of Her Own, SOUL OF A HIGHLANDER, THIRTY NIGHTS WITH A HIGHLAND HUSBAND, and HIGHLAND GUARDIAN) is a wonderful charming entry. The lead couple makes the tale as they struggle with instant attraction and desire while under attack and on a rescue mission. Fans will enjoy Melissa Mayhue's fine tale as Destiny, unlike Jesse, needs to totally embrace her paternal heritage to save herself, her sister and her soulmate. Harriet Klausner

Best One Yet!

A Highlander's Destiny is a paranormal romance, an enchanting tale of suspense and love. Everyone in Destiny Noble's life has abandoned her and the only family she has left is her younger sister. When the Nuadian Fae kidnap her sister, Destiny uses her dreams to locate her, which leads her to Jesse Coryell, a member of Dallyn's Elite Guard. Jesse Coryell owns Coryell Enterprises that specializes in tracking down captives held against their will. He takes on Destiny as an unofficial client and promises to help her locate her sister. He is used to calling the shots during the investigations but Destiny refuses to be a docile client with her sister's life in the balance. Jesse finds her stubbornness intriguing and dangerous. Women have wanted him for his unlimited back account, but not Destiny. She wants him to trust in her visions to help her locate her sister - something that he is not prepared to do. His lack of faith in her abilities causes her to follow her own path even when it leads her into danger forcing Jesse to rescue her. Melissa Mayhue's enchanting tale continues to delve deeper into her world of the Mortal and Fae that captures the reader's interest and asking for more. Her twists of internal and external conflicts and fast pace make it hard to put this one down. She brings out the vulnerability in her hero, heroine and villain so that they become alive on the page.
