Genre: Fantasy/ FictionSeries: The Magical Adventures of Kit Stixby, Number: 1Author: Stephen ElbozA Handful of Magic is England in the nineteenth century in a way no one has ever thought of before. Magic in England you might say. Dream on. But that is what this book is about. "This is when magic and science were at war with each other." (Back cover of book) It focuses on young wizard Kit Stixby, the son of the witch doctor to Queen Victoria herself. Kit practicing with his wizard powers entertains himself by turning spoons into frogs, riding his flying carpet at night to meet his friends and throwing soot bombs down people's chimneys with them. That is until his best friend, Henry, the queen's favorite grandchild, is bitten by a werewolf. And things just go down from there. His father loses his job and Kit is sent to live with his Aunt. Plus, there is Stafford Sparks, "royal superintendent of scientific progress". The evil plan that he has will let him control all of England and the entire world right after. And Kit is the only one who can stop him. This is a great book! I loved it. This is a must read! You got to read it. A great summer pick for ages 10-12. I really recommend it. Reviewed By Tiger
