Another Sweet Story

This Betty Neels love story has some definite departures from her normal formulas, but all the elements create a nice love story. Sadie is a wonderful female lead, and we come to love and feel sorry for Oliver in time. Worth a read if you are a fan of Betty Neels.

Enjoyable Departure from the Norm

Book Description: Sadie had always been happy and contented with her quiet, uneventful life in a small Dorset village, and only wished for life to continue that way. She couldn't believe it would all vanish overnight, and that she would have to part with her beloved home. Then, at the eleventh hour, she was rescued when Mr. Oliver Trentham bought her house and offered her a job as his housekeeper. But Sadie didn't take into account that she might fall in love with Oliver... In this story Neels deviates from the usual Dutch Doctor/British Nurse formula choosing a British Television Screenwriter and a British Housekeeper. Two small daughters, an evil nanny, and gossipy socialites are combined with two people from different worlds who attempt to find out if their worlds will clash or combine. Though the characters are different the story is definitely Neels.

One of Neels Best

This is a little different from Neels usual story line & therefore less predictable. Very enjoyable!

She shared his life but not his love..........

From the back cover: "What would she do? Sadie was suddenly alone in the world, and her cottage home would have to be sold. But luck was with her, for Oliver Trentham, the television screenwriter who had bought the cottage, required a housekeeper--and the job was hers! Unfortunately, her heart was soon his--hopelessly so. Such a handsome man, with two small daughters, needed to remarry, but he certainly wouldn't choose his housekeeper!"This book is a bit of a departure from Betty Neels' usual "doctor/nurse romance" stories, as neither Sadie nor Oliver are from the medical profession. Despite its lack of familiar hospital settings, however, I found this an enchanting love story and could not help but cheer when the "bad" nanny, Miss Murch, was sent packing, and Sadie finally got a chance to show her skills as a housewife and mother. You will not be disappointed when, in the end, Sadie and Oliver and the two little girls become a happy family.
