Library Mouse

I had checked this book out of the Library for my son and he just loved it so I bought it for him. He loves the story and pictures. I also use different voices for the Characters.

A beautifully illustrated book about friendship and the love of writing and reading

Sam is a shy library mouse who is a secret author. Tom is a boy with a library writing project who discovers the secret of Sam and manages to become his faithful friend and collaborator. "Library Mouse" is a beautifully illustrated book about friendship and the love of writing and reading. It would lend itself beautifully to children's writing project teaching, as well as library discovery units. Suited for readers ages 6-9, "Library Mouse" is a wonderful reading experience as well as an excellent teaching tool. Imaginative, full color illustrations help to enhance the experience for the young reader. Highest recommendations.

A Boy and a Mouse Become Friends

Sam is a shy mouse and talented author of several mysterious books who lives in a library. He keeps his identity a careful secret. One day a lonely boy named Tom finds out who Sam really is. Tom protects Sam's secret and in the process, makes a friend. When Tom writes Sam's story and leaves it as a gift for him, Sam illustrates it and leaves it to be read to the children by the librarian. Tom and Sam learn the value of friendship and respecting those who are different. Library Mouse: A Friend's Tale is the sensitively written sequel to the first Library Mouse by Daniel Kirk. Kirk's illustrations are beautifully done and remarkably detailed, down to the covers of the books in the library. He inspires creativity and puts creation within every child's reach. Nice companion to Library Mouse

Cute follow-up book. This one includes a human friend for the shy author mouse. My daughter spotted this book on the shelf and insisted that we buy it for her teacher. Her teacher does a series of class activities that go along with Library Mouse. We decided to read it ourselves a few times before we gave it...hope she likes it as much as we did.
