The author grew up on Echo Hollow Farm in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, where her family raised Registered Holsteins. She includes stories about her eighteen years growing up there in the 1940's, 50's and 60's, as well as family genealogy. As a Rotary International exchange student to Sweden in 1963-4, she kept a diary and it is included. The book ends with her Great Aunt Belle's diary written in 1897 when Belle was nine.
