This book is excellent!

Kimmelin's book is a must read for all new mothers and mothers of any age! I love her writing style - it was a very easy read and I did not want to put the book down. She tells her story in a very thoughtful manner that many women can relate to. I love her honesty and sense of humor! I will be purchasing this book for every new mom I know in the future. Thanks for sharing your story!!

Finally an honest book about motherhood!

Kimmelin Hull has written the best book about being a mother that I have read, and I've read more than a few! Her story is comforting because all mothers have felt some of the things that Ms Hull writes about, but we weren't brave enough to talk about it. She has a terrific writing style and is vulnerable and honest and funny all at the same time. This book will stick with me for a long time. I'm giving to every mother I know for Mother's Day and I would recommend it to ANYONE who is a mother or who knows a mother.

I could not put this book down!

Although I'm an avid reader, since the birth of my first child I haven't completed anything longer than "The Cat In the Hat" or "Goodnight Moon" within 24 hours . . . until today! Kimmelin has written a brilliant book! While our stories of becoming mothers are as individual as we are, there are aspects of this amazing journey that we can all relate to. Kimmelin does a great job of taking us with her through her highs and lows, making us laugh and cry along the way. I have already bought copies of the book for two of my friends . . . Wish I could buy a copy for every Mommy I know!

Amazing must read for all!

Wow! What a wonderful read. Kimmelin's lyrical writing style is captivating. I could not put her book down. From the first sentence to the last, I felt a connection like none other. "The Red Tent" has been my favorite book for many of years, one which I go back and frequently read. After reading Kimmelin Hulls' "A Dozen Invisible Pieces and Other Confessions of Motherhood" it has replaced "The Red Tent" and is my most favorite book ever! I believe everyone, man or women, should read this book. It is Brilliant! Bravo! Can not wait to read more from this talented and Lyrical author.

A standout book

It can be lonely as a new mom, a stay-at-home mom, a working mom, or any combination of the three. No matter how many people we are surrounded by, sometimes it just feels like we're all alone with this new enormous blessing and responsibility. Kimmelin Hull's book came to me at a time when I felt uncertain about my skills as a new mom, wondering if I could really do this, if I was really capable of being everything my little guy needed. In PIECES, Kimmelin Hull becomes an instant friend on the page. Her candor about her own experience as a mother raising three children under the age of four; her feelings about motherhood, about giving up a career to stay at home, then starting up a new business; about the joys (and occasional indignities) of being a mom; societal expectations of and assumptions about women; marital and mental health issues; and more all combine to create a great read, which provokes lots of laughs along the way. After reading PIECES, I took to my new role with more confidence, knowing that the unpredictable is the norm and that motherhood is, indeed, the toughest, and the most rewarding, job in the world. I recommend this book to all mothers, especially new mothers. For those of you who know new mothers, buy them this book. It will become a much-loved companion.
