A Very Strong 4.5

Another one that is hard for me to review. This book was very dark, but it definitely kept me reading. I read the comments from the author about this being his "problem child" and the number of re-writes he had to do, and I must say, I can understand it, but that it also showed. Don't get me wrong, this was a very good read and the atmosphere of the swamp was great. Living in Mississippi on the coast, I have experienced the swamps first hand, and I live very close to New Orleans and am familiar with the Louisiana swamps. The description of the beauties of the swamp and the capture of the atmosphere was spot on, complete with voodoo, ghosts and even a rougarou. I did enjoy this book, but hated the ending, even though I understand why it had to end that way. See? I am having a hard time reviewing a book that was, at times, very hard to continue reading, but yet, I wanted to keep reading to the point I stayed up way to late at night reading. I would say the last half of the book was when it started getting good. I would recommend this novel to those who like the supernatural and horror. I would also like to read another by this author as I feel his writing is very good. Read it for yourself and see what you think.
