A Daring Deception lacks the somewhat slapstick humor Holbrook's later books have, and it's all the better for it. Two siblings, Julia and Armand, are hiding in England. Their father has been set up as a traitor and all three are being hunted down. Fortunately, he's trained them well, and they enter London Society in various disguises. Of course there's plenty of romance for everyone (I like the father's the best even if it does get the least time). There's also adventure, excitement, and that beautiful thing - plot.
This Regency has everything!

Wit, humor, suspense, sweet romance...this book has it all. I have read six Cindy Holbrook Regencies. Lady Megan's Masquerade and The Country Gentleman were wonderful. Some of the others were not as well written. A Daring Deception was my favorite. It had several subplots which kept me turning the pages. I was surprised to pick up a short Regency romance and find that it was such a complete and satisfying book.
