I enjoy having this book mainly as interesting reading. It is extensively illustrated (the mix of historical images also point of interest, making it nice to look through and so on). Although it does not cover all herbs that are relatively common to us nowadays, it writes in depth on those that it does, giving traditional uses, i.e. medicinal and culinary (gives a few recipes here and there) and on magical uses, although not in detail and less frequently. This book is not so good as a point of reference for herbs you buy, considering they might not neccessarily be in there(!), and also that it is less of a brief factual book; as said above, buy for interesting reading on traditional, slightly 'background' knowledge of herbs.
