This is the first western I have ever read, but I watched lots of westerns growing up. After reading a review in BOOKLIST that raved about this book, I gave it a try and really enjoyed it! I would give it more than 4 stars, but less than 5. The author has a very dry sense of humor, and I really was very amused at his wry wit. There are very interesting characters in this slightly skewed morality play. Since the author wrote screenplays for many of the westerns I watched growing up, I guess it isn't surprising that it is a thoroughly entertaining read!
