The life of a kid in Kenya was the outcome of 35 years of teaching humanities in American schools, when it was necessary to develop lesson plans based on the life of a child growing up in Kenya. As a fine arts and music teacher, the book mainly comprises ofan assortment of lesson ideas supplemented by my own artistic depictions of my experiences as a young Kenyan. The artworks were developed over some time as a direct and visual response to my students' study about Kenyan culture. The book aims to show how Kenyan child spends time creating their own toys to play with, which fosters their creativity and ingenuity. A Kenyan youngster learns early in life that the arts are more important in culture.
