A little girl relates how her hearing deficiency is detected and corrected with the use of a hearing aid. This description may be from another edition of this product.
My 4-year old daughter is hard of hearing and is getting 2 hearing aids. This was a good book to help explain hearing aids to her and to the other children in her class. It's a little outdated due to the type of equipment described, but the concepts are the same. At 4 years old, I think it's more important to explain the concept than the equipment...
Read to a second grade class

I purchased this book to read to a second grade class. We found out about a month & a half ago that my step-daughter needed hearing aids. This came as a huge surprise to us. Not only did we have to explain all of this to her, but we wanted to teach her classmates what hearing aids are, why she needs them, and how they will help her. This book was perfect! The only issue was that the hearing aid style was outdated (there is no longer a huge box hanging around your neck) but other than that, the book was funny and kept the childrens' attention. It led a discussion and allowed the children to ask my step-daughter sincere questions. No one has made fun of her, and I am told that all of the kids think her hearing aids are 'cool'.
I'm not alone.

As a young woman who grew up with hearing aids, I wish I had a book like this to tell me that I wasn't the only child with hearing aids. I highly recommend educators to have this book in their classroom. I also recommend Living With Deafness by Emma Haughton to support this narrative.
A great way to introduce a child to a hearing aid.

This is a book to help kids understand what a hearing aid is and why some children need one. The parents of Angie, the girl in this book, did not know she needed one until it became obvious that she was misunderstanding everything that was said to her. If a child who wears a hearing aid will be coming to your child's clasroom, this book gives a humorous introduction to what a hearing aid is and how it works.
