The Hunter Gets Captured

Max Hunter falls for Cory Masters as soon as he sees her, there is no doubt about that, but Cory takes a bit more time to see Max the way his former secretary Gillian Cox, sees him, as a boss in a million. But when she does fall, she misinterprets Max's love for lust and the chase is on. Ms Brooks hits the mark with a hero who is truly a hero, and the alpha female is although a bit reluctant to be the heroin she still makes the grade. Cory has left her former boyfriend Vivian Batley-Thomas, {yes Vivian used to be a man's name, just as Cory, Carol, Madison, Hunter, Taylor, Lynn, Beverly and Meredith} since he now is engaged to a sweet Carol James. Because Cory feels she can't go on watching Vivian being with Carol, and Vivian always asking her to do special things for Carol, Cory leaves the love birds. Later Vivian comes to Cory and tries to get her to change her mind and have him back, Cory now has Vivian's number and she won't hurt Carol like that. She makes Vivian buck up and go back to Carol with a word of good advice. I recommend this book it is a super read.

A Boss in a Million by Helen Brooks (Harlequin Mills & Boon)

Description from the book back cover: The boss's mistress? Cory Masters knew Max Hunter was a powerful man. His last PA called him a boss in a million, but Cory soon discovered that he was unique. There could only be one man in the world so sexy, so dynamic, so ... overwhelming! Cory was determined to concentrate on her work, not Max's irresistible good looks. After all, she was in love with another man. A man, Max quickly decided, who wasn't good enough for her, and the simplest way to convince Cory of her mistake was holding her captive until she admitted it was Max she really wanted!

Marvelous Heroine !!

Helen Brooks did a wonderful job. I think it was the heroine, Cory that made it so wonderful for me. She was strong and she held onto her place and didn't let Max walk all over her. Cory began to work for Max after leaving the supposed love of her life, Vivian. Vivian was getting married so she had to leave or she'll be destroyed. (Yes, Vivian is a guy) All thoughts of Vivian fled when she met Max. Max has some personal issues but his personality was captivating. He's stubborn, strong, gorgeous and protective, in his own ways. Max states in the very beginning that their relationship would only be a working relationship and that he doesn't want her to tie any emotions to this job. She agrees but that was before she realized she has fallen for him. She left him because she knew he wouldn't open up his heart to the possibility of love because of his personal issues. She walks out on him and decides to pick up her life but surprises were meant to be in store for Cory...A BOSS IN A MILLION is a very well written book. First of all I could tell that Helen Brooks did research for her setting. There was a brief period where the characters go to Japan and every detail was well planned out. It was as if you were there and it was almost as if you were experiencing the culture. Second, I admire the heroine for her strength and for her insight of some situations. Third, this is a must read for those who revel in strong characters!^_^ ~ Izzy
