It's ok for a very basic read.

I felt like I was reading a young adult novel. It was ok and a good storyline just very predictable while trying to appear as a "shock". Perhaps highschoolers will find it interesting but I dont see myself seeking out this author again.

Surprise at the end.

This has all the emotions you will need.

A Bend In The Road by Nicholas Sparks is a very good read!

Two lonely hearts find love again, but an unexpected twist in the plot threatens their relationship and challenges their ability to forgive! Nicholas Sparks keeps your interest. Enjoy...

Just, WOW

Wow, wow, wow. That's all I could think as I finished this book. It was perfect, romantic and thrilling.

Not much of a mystery

Currently reading. Put it down as I didn’t find it compelling or mysterious. Too much romance for my taste!

Love, love, LOVE this story!

Ok, I'm just going to tell you right away that I am a die-hard Nicholas Sparks fan, and I not only read all his books, but, I also have his entire collective works in hard back. But, my pet peeve with his novels is this, (if you're a big Sparks fan as well, you know what I mean): It seems he has the tendancy to kill-off the character you grow most attached-to in his novels; not a lot of "Happily ever after" tales. Now, that being said, (without causing an "ending blower"), I think you're going to love this one. I don't know why the movie rights to this story never sold....I personally think it's better than the latest release, "Nights in Rodanthe", by a long shot. The large print version was much easier to read, of course, but wasn't huge and bulky like some other books can be, and I received the book in a timely manner...about 10 days. No problems with this seller. I recommend the seller, and I definitely recommend this book, in regular or large print.

Intriguing Blend Of Mystery And Romance

"A Bend In The Road", by Nicholas Sparks mixes romance and mystery for a highly captivating read. Although a bit predictable, that didn't stop me from wanting to turn the page to see what happened next and to see if my predictions were right. Miles Ryan's life changed course in an instant. He lost his wife in a car accident and three years later, still has trouble coping with this horrible tragedy. He is doing his best to raise his young son, Jonah, and both are feeling the great loss of the wife and mother they loved so dearly. Miles, a sheriff, is obsessed with finding the person who fled the scene and left his wife lying in a ditch. Jonah, neglected by teachers who felt sorry for him, and by his father's obsession with "the case" has his own emotional troubles. When Sarah, Jonah's new teacher comes into the picture and brightens the lives of both father and son, it looks like she will be the one to help them start life anew. Miles seem to be able to put the case behind him and enjoy life. When new evidence emerges though, Miles relives the day his wife was killed and again can not let it go. But is he on the right track, and can another tragedy be prevented before it's too late? The story of love is uplifting. The love of family, a man's love for his wife and son, and new love. It is the love that is the motivating factor that will determine the course of all their lives. The mystery of the hit and run accident gets more suspenseful as the story goes on, and is made all the more intriguing by the fact that the story is told by the driver himself! Every few chapters the author has him inserting his own thoughts of the events, and only a little at a time do we get hints as to who it may be. I found these chapters to be the real page turners. This is the large print edition(BTW - why do the LP books cost so much more), but there are other editions available. Recommended as an enjoyable summer read for both romance and mystery lovers....enjoy...Laurie

Terrific Novel of Love and Loss

Best-selling author Nicolas Sparks delivers once again in this heartwarming tale of tears and triumph. As a young widower, Miles Ryan finds little joy in life as a deputy sheriff in the small town of New Bern, North Carolina. Forced to raise his young son, Jonah, alone, Miles was devastated when two years prior, his wife Missy was killed in a hit and run auto accident. Because the killer was never found, Miles has never found closure as evidenced by the file he keeps on Missy?s death. Life seems to improve for Miles when he meets Sarah Andrews, Jonah?s new teacher. Though Sarah was hurt by her previous divorce, she sees Miles as someone she could trust. Miles and Sarah?s attraction to one another is both gradual and realistic as they begin to emerge from their old fears and heartaches. In a heart wrenching and clever twist of fate, circumstances intervene and threaten to destroy this couple?s newfound happiness. Emotions ride high as the reader is kept guessing until the last page is finished as to whether love can really overcome all. A BEND IN THE ROAD is a fine addition to a long list of previous best-selling novels. With memorable characters facing real life problems, readers will be reluctant to part with Miles and Sarah as their story comes to a gripping conclusion.

BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN AND ENRICHED WITH STRONG EMOTION!

This is, without question, the most beautifully written book from Sparks since "Message in a Bottle." It is a story of loss and new-found love. Miles is still grieving the loss of his wife in a hit-and-run accident, and struggling with the day-to-day challenges of raising a son on his own. When Sarah Andrews enters his life, Miles is filled with a variety of mixed emotions from guilt and a sense of betrayal to his dead wife, to the earthy qualities of love and passion for an attractive, alluring woman. Sarah, too, is dealing with her own demons of the past. Just as fate has blessed these two people with the chance to find happiness, solace and love together, and put the past to rest, their love and relationship are both tested to the limit. This is a book fans of Sparks will not want to miss. Also highly recommended by another Nicholas - Nicholas Evans, is "Smoke Jumper." Both are excellent books, destined to become best sellers and deserving of five-star ratings.
